Climate change is reshaping the world in profound and often devastating ways nowhere more starkly than here in Swat. The valley’s once-lush landscape bears deep scars from its wrath. In just two decades, two catastrophic floods have ravaged the riverside, stripping away fertile farmland and leaving behind a wasteland of barren river stones. The relentless encroachment of the river has swallowed hundreds of acres, erasing entire villages from the map.

The fury of these floods has grown fiercer with time. In 2010, raging waters swept away every bridge in their path and tore through the main highway to Kalam, severing vital connections for months. Even today, the road lies in ruins, a lingering testament to nature’s unchecked power. Then, in 2022, history repeated itself another deluge, another wave of destruction, another grim reminder that Swat remains at the mercy of a changing climate.
